These communities have been wronged by big business. There is strength in numbers; together we can protect our children's health and our property values  We aim to protect the children of our community from environmental harm. WE ARE A GROUP OF RESIDENTS/PAST RESIDENTS OF THE COMMUNITY OF BELLEVUE. Bellevue sits on the South side of the Town of Cheektowaga in the State of New York. WHAT IS OUR GOAL? Our goal is to uncover the truth as to why so many residents (children & adults) of our community suffer from autoimmune diseases and respiratory diseases. WHAT IS CAUSING THESE HEALTH PROBLEMS? We believe the following:   1) CRYSTALLINE SILICA particulate is released into our air as the stone at the local quarry is crushed.   2) Asphalt Fume particulate is released into our air as trucks carry the hot asphalt from the 2 plants located inside the quarry. 3) Diesel Fume particulate is released into our air from the 1.5 trucks per minute that travel our roads. 4) Hydrogen Sulfide and Sulfur Dioxide are also released into our air as a byproduct of mining. 5) 4 local landfills, some of which are listed as toxic waste sites, have contributed to the contamination of the local ground water, surface water around the sites and the sediment of and water which flow in Cayuga Creek. We are always in need of volunteers who have any amount of time to give. 1 hour a week will help to better the future for the children of Bellevue and WNY. Stuffing envelopes, typing letters, copying, making phone calls, joining a Bucket Brigade, mailings these are just a few of the ways you can help us today!
